New York City, US, Dec 23 (EFE).- New York police arrested a man on Sunday afternoon suspected of killing a woman by setting her on fire inside a subway train.
The alleged attacker, who has not yet been charged, is a 33-year-old man who has lived in the United States for «several years,» although his identity remains unknown, ABC7 television reported.
The victim has not yet been identified because her body was «completely burned» and impossible to recognize.
Police said the woman died after being intentionally set on fire by the man, possibly with a lighter.

A surveillance video published by several media outlets shows the alleged attacker watching as the flames spread over the victim’s body.
«This is one of the most depraved crimes that a human being can commit against another human being,» Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at a press conference.
According to Tisch, the suspect and the woman were riding a subway train to the end of the line in Brooklyn early Sunday.
After the train came to a stop, surveillance video from the subway car showed the attacker «calmly» walking toward the victim, who was seated and possibly sleeping, and setting her clothing on fire with what appeared to be a lighter, Tisch said.
The woman’s clothing was then completely «engulfed in a matter of seconds,» she added.
The crime comes at a time of tension over the immigration issue, after President-elect Donald Trump linked undocumented migrants to the rise in crime in the country during his election campaign without providing any evidence. EFE
