Pakistan security forces kill 7 insurgents near Afghanistan border

Islamabad, Apr 18 (EFE).- Pakistan’s army said that at least seven insurgents who were trying to infiltrate the Asian country through the border with neighboring Afghanistan had been killed.

On Tuesday, the security forces detected a movement of a group of seven insurgents near the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Ghulam Khan, located in the troubled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, the media and public relations wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces, ISPR, said in a statement on Wednesday night.

“The infiltrators were surrounded, effectively engaged and after an intense fire exchange, all seven territories were sent to hell,” it added.

During the operation carried out by the Pakistani security forces, a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was also recovered from the “terrorists,” according to the statement.

Insurgent attacks have increased in the KP and Balochistan provinces, both bordering Afghanistan, in the recent times.

The attacks have especially increased after the Taliban renewed ties with its Pakistani ideological ally, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, also known as Pakistani Taliban, after coming to power in August 2021.

Pakistan has since accused Afghanistan of harboring insurgent groups carrying out attacks on its territory, allegations that the fundamentalist group has denied time and again. EFE
