Bad Bunny launches new world tour in Santo Domingo as global star power peaks

Santo Domingo (EFE).— Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny will kick off his highly anticipated “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS World Tour” this Friday in Santo Domingo, marking the first stop of a global circuit that will span Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania through Jul. 2026.

Chosen by Billboard as the top Latin artist of the 21st century, the three-time Grammy winner, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, will perform Friday and Saturday at Santo Domingo’s Olympic Stadium, where tickets are completely sold out.

The show’s producers announced late Wednesday that they had opened extra seating sections after overwhelming demand and released additional tickets.

Tickets sell out in hours

Tickets originally ranged from 53 dollars to 373 dollars when sales opened in June and sold out within hours.

In the lead-up to the concert, prices on the resale market soared.

“Nothing will be left; people are desperate to find tickets,” said Raúl, a street reseller, who told EFE he sold dozens on Thursday. “Some fans will pay anything. People even fly in from other countries.”

Bad Bunny’s tour will visit Costa Rica, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Australia, Japan, Spain, Portugal, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, France, Sweden, Poland, and Italy, before closing in Belgium on Jul. 22, 2026.

Fans from around the world arrive

Excitement is high in the Dominican capital. “Starting the tour in Santo Domingo is the best decision he could make. He has a huge fan base here,” said Radhy Paniagua, a 28-year-old Dominican fan.

María Magdalena, also Dominican, said Bad Bunny’s success stems from his “fun, youthful music,” adding that “it’s a privilege that the first concert is here. This is where he first became big.”

The audience includes fans traveling from abroad. “I have very high expectations,” said Sebastián Orozco, a young Guatemalan attending the opening show.

Canadian fan Marjorie Martin flew in from Quebec with two friends: “We love Bad Bunny. We saw him in Puerto Rico, and now we’re here for the tour’s first show.”

New album and streaming records Bad Bunny released his sixth studio album, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, on Jan. 5.

The 17-track record includes tributes to Puerto Rico and addresses social issues affecting the island.

Earlier this year, he sold out in record time a series of 30 shows titled “No me quiero ir de aquí” at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico.

In 2024, he was the most-streamed Latin artist on Spotify, with his recent albums Un Verano Sin Ti and Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana breaking multiple streaming records. EFE
