New Harry Potter-themed park opens in Tokyo

Tokyo, Jun 16 (EFE).- A new theme park dedicated to the Harry Potter film franchise opened its doors Friday in Tokyo, with indoor facilities that are the largest in the world dedicated to this fantastic universe.

The venue, operated by the Japanese subsidiary of Warner Bros. Studios with the participation of several Japanese firms, has an area of 30,000 sqm and is the second theme park in the world dedicated exclusively to Harry Potter, after the one in London.

The park, for which advance booking is required, was sold out Friday, its first day opening to the public.

An inauguration ceremony was held with the participation of British actor Tom Felton, who played the character Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter’s rival in the series.

Like the aforementioned Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London, which welcomed 17 million visitors in 2022, the Tokyo venue includes an extensive tour of attractions inspired by the J.K. Rowling books and the films based on them, among the highest grossing in history.

In the park, which recreates iconic scenes from the films such as the Great Hall of Hogwarts Castle, you can also see part of the costumes, props and special effects used in the films.
